Our Programs
This project is being implemented at the national level and in 8 sub counties in Homabay and Migori Counties. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to a participatory, transparent, accountable management of public resources for efficient service delivery in Kenya. The project comprises of two main components namely, capacity building and lobby and advocacy.
Specifically, this project seeks to:
- Empower CSOs at the national level to undertake policy advocacy, skills building of citizens to participate effectively in Public Finance Management (PFM) processes.
- Empower 30% of the adult population in Migori and Homabay counties to effectively participate in Public Finance Management (PFM) processes (at the county level).
The project will therefore empower citizens and CSOs to influence progressive budgeting and spending that deliver increased investment in public services that respond to the needs, priorities and rights of the citizens in Homabay and Migori counties and at the national level.
2. The Western Kenya Peace Initiative Project
This is a joint peace project being implemented by a consortium of 12 organisations working in 15 counties in western Kenya region namely; Siaya, Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Nyamira, Kisii, Migori, Homabay, Kisumu, Vihiga, Kakamega and Busia. EACOR implements the peace project in Homabay and Migori Counties.
The goal of the project is to Contribute to peaceful democratic processes within the rule of law (of tolerance, pluralism, and peaceful co-existence) within Kenya. The project objectives are to enhance peaceful co-existence within and among different ethnic communities in western Kenya and also integrate the efforts of local communities in local and regional peace structures.
2. Past Projects
Enhancing capacity of Civil Society Organizations for promotions, protection and realization of economic, social and cultural rights in Kenya and Uganda.
Empowerment of rights holders and duty bearers through awareness creation on economic, social cultural rights and training on rights-based approach to development.
Advocacy for effective service delivery through lobby and advocacy for policy/law change, policy development and intervention.
Monitoring of human rights abuse in the community and reporting these abuses to the relevant authorities and mediation between rights holders and duty bearers and community members
